This comes under "If you break it, you fix it"
I a happy to see the tech companies such as Google, LinkedIn and Microsoft grow and bring jobs to Mountain View. However, as corporate residents of Mountain View the have the same responsibility as you and me - building a better Mountain View.

I support the idea of mixed use projects that will work 24/7 community not just building houses next to offices. Retail, Restaurants, community serving businesses. All this has to work weekdays, weeknights, weekends and major holidays.
All walking/bike paths must lead to the commercial core and then link up with others. Private car, public transit/shuttle/bike and foot it should all be linked or you will just get more people driving after work to buy stuff. It has to be large to support a large grocery store, drug store and other services.
People living next to the office will want to spend time off doing whatever they like to do and not sitting at home in a unit out in the middle of a office park.
This is why I support the mixed use part of San Antonio, get some companies to occupy the 2 6 story buildings that were housing in North Bayshore or North Whisman. Tear down some offices that are no long needed and build a retail/housing core like Phase 1.
