Streetfair closed Castro St. on 7/24/14 during PM commute

Original post made by Mark, Shoreline West, on Jul 25, 2014

Just wondering who the City of Mountain View genius (sarcasm) employees are who gave permits to a streetfair of some type that CLOSED Castro St. to traffic during the PM commute on Wed., 7/24/14??? As a resident of Mountain View, I want to know so that I'll be sure NOT to EVER vote for them if given the opportunity ... restaurants/businesses on Castro must have been thrilled (sarcasm) ... I'll bet their business was down about 80% from normal because people COULDN'T GET TO THEM!

You're so right Mark! We need to protect the restaurants on Castro Street from this awful event! Look how empty the street is compared to a normal Thursday

Um, "Mark," if you are complaining about July 24 (a Thursday, not a Wednesday),

1. That was the regular Thursday Night Live, which has happened a few times each summer since 2011 and is well publicized in advance:

2. During the street closure, local merchants and restaurants were thriving, as usual.

3. Please do not use Mountain View Voice's online forum to complain you did not know about an event that was thoroughly publicized in advance, in this very same newspaper and web site: Web Link">Web Link

It's more effective (and impressive) to pay attention to the announcement beforehand, than to complain afterwards that you didn't know.
