Judge throws out insanity plea in attempted murder

A jury on Wednesday found that the 53-year-old Los Altos woman who was convicted for attempted murder on June 3 was sane at the time of the crimes.

Not succeeding a bad plan does not equate with being insane... just stupid. Too often, it seems to me, a defendant's lawyer and the courts accept stupid for insane... and I for one am tired of it.

I think we need a very high threshold for an insanity plea. Certainly higher than what is accepted now in too many cases.
