Molly Magee's is in Mountain View, the man lives in Mountain View; so he would be: "also from Mountain View", "also of Mountain View", or "of Mountain View also". The only way "out of Mountain View" would make any sense is if he was arrested outside of Mountain View, or came from a 'Mountain View' in another state.

You wrote, "Molly Magee's is in Mountain View...". Your usage of it indicates an attempt to use it incorrectly in one of two ways:

1) Possessive. If you were trying to discuss the bartender at Molly Magees, then you might write, "Molly Magees' bartender". However, your statement does not appear to do this and it would be placing the apostrophe in the incorrect location. (It should go after the "s", since the letter is included in the name already. This is clearly an inappropriate usage in this scenario.

2) A form of "is". More likely, you are trying to use the apostrophe as an abbreviation for "is". However, there are two errors there as well. The first is the incorrect placement of the apostrophe. Since Macgees pub includes the "s" in the name already, the correct placement of the apostrophe would be after the "s" and not before it. Example: Magees'
Unfortunately, even if you have correctly placed the apostrophe, your sentence would have begun, ""Molly Magees' is in Mountain View...", which is an abbreviation for: "Molly Magees IS IS in Mountain View...".

@Forthrader: As stated in the article, (and many other articles in this newspaper, the Patch, and even some Yellow Pages) the name of the establishment is Molly Magee's; therefore my usage of "Molly Magee's is" is correct. On the other hand, you seem to know that the signs spell the name of the establishment as "Molly Magees", in which case I should have written "Molly Magees is".

If you had pointed that the name of the establishment was incorrectly stated in the article, your point would have been valid.

Yet you seem to have glossed over the actual issue of the use of "out of" in your attack on me. Perhaps you passed the fourth grade already and are hiding behind the "moniker" in order to elicit some sort of "pown" response? Or perhaps you are in the fourth grade as a teacher? If not, I would suggest that 11:14 pm is way past your bed time.

In your address to my brother, you referred to a "@Forthrader", when in fact the correct spelling of his posting name should be "FourthGrader". You see, "FourthGrader" is actually two words blended together: "Fourth" and "Grader". The idea was to indicate his grade level in his name, as this datum seemed very important in your own posting about a purportedly critical error in a Mountain View Voice news article. My brother was uncertain whether you were addressing his posting or not. We discussed the possibility that there was some special meaning with your novel word "Forthrader". Forth means "onward in time, place or order" or "out into notice or view", but we could find no meaning for "rader", at least not in our English language resources.

After a good amount of research and soul-searching, we decided that you did not read the username properly or, worse, had two typos in this 12 letter word sequence. It is my brother's hope that you truly understood the meaning of his username, as it would be unfortunate to have such a dire mis-communication on this serious topic.

As young people, we must claim ignorance over these “Yellow Pages” you write of. Is this an authoritative government document like the US Constitution that has yellowed with age? The only authoritative place that my brother knows and told me about is Santa Clara County’s “Public Access Retrieval Information System.” From there, it was very easy to confirm the correct spelling of Molly Macgees: Web Link to be truly "MOLLY MAGEES”.

My brother and I find it both interesting and novel to defend your incorrect usage of an apostrophe on a local newspaper and a news website. We are both young and inexperienced, but would expect that even the most generous of our elementary school teachers would find it difficult to accept that defense if used to improve the score of one of our class grammar tests.
