Commission wants to track jobs-housing ratio

Mountain View's plans to sharply widen the gap between job growth and housing growth, even while in the midst of a housing crisis, has spurred quite a bit of media coverage and public discussion in recent days.

The first step in solving the housing / jobs problem is to stop building more office space.

Then instead in those same locations, start putting in housing.

Less demand from new offices, and more supply of housing, means less traffic from commuters and rents do not go up as fast
