The "Onsite burrowing owl mitigation area" is an insult, or a bad joke, I'm not sure which. Are they really expecting a reclusive bird like that to be anywhere near this area, let alone in a teeney corner of the parking lot? I like the fields, but don't insult our intelligence by saying that tiny patch of land will do ANYTHING for burrowing owls. Its simply window dressing, but its still tacky.

I understand there are a small handful of burrowing owls left in the Valley inclusive of Shoreline and that this year the park area is down to only one pair of breeding owls. The recent Google playing field layed on top their small habitat and now this does same (they don't live in the swamp/marsh of Shoreline nor the golf course but the old fields where mice etc frequent) I support more playing fields and I also support preservation of our unique natural resources so... I do hope some strong measures were taken to protect the last few of our owls. They've similarly been diminished to near zero numbers across the Valley and to some similar degree, the State.

The worst thing is we still haven't banned the importation of non-native predators of birds into Shoreline--feral cats. There are even feeding stations to keep them nice and strong so when they go bird hunting, they will have a good time. A cat would have absolutely no problem getting to a nest on the ground and taking owls--when will the madness stop?

With the drought in full effect I'm hoping that any water related construction (new turf,landscaping)be postponed. It doesn't seem like the right time to try and keep these vast expanses green through the hot summer months. They should consider artificial turf to reduce fertilizer run off into the bay

I recently heard that the city of Mountain View was considering tolls on the streets leading into this area due to the growing traffic problem. As a long-time resident of Mountain View and an employee of one of the companies in this area, I just have to wonder what you're thinking. The traffic is unbearable now. I have had to shift my hours to ensure I leave my office by 4:30 to avoid the gridlock that occurs starting at about 4:45 what with cars, buses and Google foot and bike traffic clogging the roads. And I can only imagine what will happen when this opens and we see a brand new influx of folks coming in for evening games. Will they be required to pay tolls as well?

You heard wrong. They may have "considered" it along with a myriad of other options, but in reality there is no plan to charge any toll so all your worries about such a thing are unnecessary.

Many years passed since city bulldozed the only BMX/dirt jump spot around.

It is cheap to build, why no bike park? Not everybody needs a 15 million dollar ball park.

P.S. Nobody cares about owls. Humans live here.
