I guess you have no concept of the value of "open space." Or maybe you just don't care. Thank goodness the folks running the Open Space Preserve have some common sense.

I've lived in many area surrounded by undeveloped or otherwise open lands, but what makes this area special is our ability to ACCESS that land. If you cannot get into it and interact with it, it might as well just be a facade. Even in areas like San Luis Obispo, that people equate with beautiful wide open spaces, the reality is that only very small portions of that land can be accessed by the general public. Its mostly private ranch or PG&E in the surrounding areas. I feel the accessible open land of the peninsula is what makes it so special. It only gets better. Thanks MidPen!

I am not saying build on open space but remember if we keep pushing further east we are just going to eat into more open space and encourage suburban sprawl. Sprawl that will eat up valuable farm, cattle and water shed lands. More sprawl in a hot valley with hundreds of front yard, back yards and landscaping.

We will have Smog, the Sierra Foothills which we can see from our open space will became more hazy.

If we want to preserve open we must starting thinking of infill. I don't want to see Monte Bello eaten by housing, but I don't want see the Sierra Foothills eaten by housing either.

Sorry Garrett, but your "Better to build on your land rather than mine" argument doesn't wash. Period. There is NO need to build on the open space that's just been acquired. And for you to argue otherwise only shows that you have an agenda -- and a pretty pathetic one at that.

Grew up around so I think the open is wonderful, open land must be preserved but growth in the bay area must be planned better to save open space. Both here and far.

This is FANTASTIC! New trails to connect to the old, and one of the great mountain biking areas become little bit bigger, and a little bit better.

Is there a VTA bus route I can take to the top of Skyline to access this? Or is this area only reserved for the wealthy elites who fly the green flag from the back of their $100K Telsa's ?

This is great news, not only for hikers but also for animals, which need large open areas for foraging and genetic diversity.

@Move on Back. Weeeelll aren't we the running with the hoity toity crowd. I cannot afford a bus so I either walk or ride my bike. I guess having a driver take you to the top while you just sit and relax is only reserved for those that can afford it.
