Pretty soon all schools will be nothing but online courses. Of course school workers are not happy with this thought, since they would be losing their jobs. Teachers would be able to help kids using video instant messengers.

Benefits of online course is you can go your own pace. This would greatly improve education and how smart kids turn out.

If you think that it's possible for everyone at the K-12 level to actually learn using only online methods, you're either deluding yourself -- or you have an irrational hatred of teachers.

Or maybe both?

There is a huge variety of online and distance learning lumped under the classification "online." It's important to define what you're talking about in this type of conversation. Some online courses are "at your own pace" and might not be as stimulating or challenging; but many, when they are combined with existing residency curriculum and requirements, are just as grueling and interactive as in-person classes, and usually taught by the same teaching staff. So let's not generalize the discussion. If your child had a disability or long-term illness that prevented him/her from attending class, I would think that an online alternative would be welcome.

Mountain View High School has developed a HIGH rating due to Feb news about its 1995 grad Jan Koum. Jan's a 1992 jewish kid immigrant to US from Ukraine (Ukraine - Russia conflict is in the news now). He graduated from MVHS, went to San Jose State, but didn't finish college. Instead he worked for Yahoo for 9 yrs, then quit to form a Mountain View startup WhatsApp. Just last month (Feb) Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19 Billion, of which Jan Koum receives $6.8B. What would be a bigger boasting point for any High School anywhere in the country (or world)?? Cheers MVHS!!!!
