So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.

Did this help emigres such as Jan Koum?
JK later started his company called WhatsApp, which was acquired by Facebook just last month.

Sorry, in the previous comment I said emigres, but meant immigrants instead.

Glad to hear that the Immigrant House will be preserved and that Google was willing to give back to the community.
As to vkmo's comment, I believe the Immigrant House was from a much earlier time. But Mr. Koum and his mother received a lot of support from the state in terms of food stamps and disability, and actually signed the document that made him a billionaire on the doors of the old food stamp office:

If we want to encourage people to reach their full potential, we could do a lot worse than support immigration and ensure that there is a strong social safety net. And we can honor the past generations of immigrants by preserving this Immigrant House.

Wow what wonderful news this is!!Projects like these are important to celebrate our history and remind us we are working together as we did in the past to make a better world. It will be wonderful to have this lovely slice of the past for the residents and friends of Mountain View to enjoy. This is a project that can help make Mountain View the "village" we have longed for and missed.
