Since we have not had rain in a long time and trees are still losing their leaves, please look in the street near your house and see if the drains at the curb are or will get clogged when rain starts to fall.

If you can, rake the debris about 2 feet into the street, watch for cars, and the water will flow behind the stuff and clog the drains less. The street sweepers cannot get into the areas where cars park and there is a lot of build-up in some areas. I live in a low spot and the intersections flood unless I go out and pull the crud into the street.

Good call Susan. We can make a HUGE difference in local flooding on our own streets with some simple awareness:

- Since car tires collect leaves resulting in flooding, leave a bit more space between your sidewall and the curb.
- Also, on trash days, don't snug the bin wheels against the curb. This creates micro dams all up and down the street.

About time that high pressure ridge left our area. Last time we had significant rainfall was 14 months ago, in December 2012, when we had over 5 inches of rain in Mountain View that month. Then our dry period began. At any rate, good to see the rain about to fall for the rest of the week.
