Thank you for posting this story about Liliana Rios Alvarez, and thank you to the MVLA trustees for recognizing and honoring her leadership. I admire Liliana's grit, and wish her the best as she continues with her studies and her parenting.

I'd like to second Ellen Wheeler's remarks and add kudos to the MVLA for recognizing that a teen who is also a parent is entitled to, and capable of completing, a good education. Liliana and her cohort are to be admired!

This is an excellent example of how the adult/parent education program of the MVLA high school district is an important program for the community to support. This program, like many, were "categorical" and had their budgets cut over the last 5 years. Locally, the cuts started to include on-site pre-school support for the young adults trying to finish their GED (certificate of high school graduation equivalent).
An educated parent population is very important for the entire Mountain View community. This program is under the control of the MVLA Trustees. Write them if you are pleased with all forms of continuing young adult education.
