Free breakfast program needs a boost

Original post made on Dec 20, 2013

The poor and homeless are often invisible in the middle of one of Silicon Valley's most booming cities, but the need for a free breakfast program at a downtown Mountain View church is growing, serving 180 people on a recent Saturday.

Since Palo Alto has banned living in "cars", many of these folks have moved to Crisanto Ave, along Rengstorff Park. On any given night, there are no fewer than 8, and as many as 15 RV's camped out along this road. These are not people living in cars, they are people living in RV's.

I have yet to see the police perform any enforcement. Certainly our finest are aware of these squatters. Are they simply ignoring this issue?

Is this really the comment that you want to make after THIS article. Maybe you should move to Palo Alto!

Or you could go donate some time to this great cause and build some compassion.

I don't think the police will do anything about the RVs unless someone complains. There are people living in there cars at the old Safeway on California, been there for months.

They were banned away from Palo Alto prep by imposing a no parking 2AM-6PM. Slick laws to screw over the down on their luck. Because property owners are only concerned about property values. These RV and other people don't pay enough in taxes so they are pushed along and have no voice because these people will not have constituents in office making policy. Palo Alto and MV are heartless.

Housing costs have risen faster than income or job growth.
The housing bubble is being re-inflated, waiting for the next burst.
Anybody guess why we have a homeless problem?
It does not take a Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out.

Google employee??? - questionable! Google has showers (and great fitness facilites(!), no need to use the YMCA. Google serves employees free meals; no need to use up a space at Hope's Corner of another less fortunate.
