Good thing that's the only active construction project in Mountain View, otherwise I'd be worried about safety.

Voice - low pressure local distribution line or high-pressure regional?
A high pressure gas distribution line, constructed in WW II to bring energy up to San Francisco (through, for instance, San Bruno) is in this area and goes under the Crittenden Middle School soccer/softball fields and across Sierra Vista. Yes - that same type of old-pipe high-pressure line. Imagine an earthquake - with 'liquefaction' in the field and a broken line within 200 feet of occupied school buildings.
I have been talking (Fri morn) with our Assemblyman (Gordan) and communicating with our state Senator (Hill) to make sure schools are directly notified of high-pressure gas transport line problems. This 'no notification' is a big problem in the City of San Carlos, according to a public hearing of Hill's I recently attended.
Writing your State Senator (Hill) is probably the best long-term way to help strengthen formal gas-line safety oversight. Because San Bruno explosion area was 'his district' (Assembly) it is now 'his issue' (Senate committee overseeing PG&E regulators). [contractors who can't read - better schooling]
