NASA Ames' persistent star

NASA's Kepler mission was a dream that NASA Ames scientist William Borucki shared with Carl Sagan and others -- a telescope floating in outer space that could peer deeper into the heavens than ever before. But Borucki was told repeatedly by NASA administrators that the proposal was a non-starter.

I didn't know any of the Kepler mission's back story. Thanks for putting it into an article! It's one of the most important science missions NASA has flown, in my opinion.
