Reminds me of the Embarcadero Freeway or Justin Herman Plaza in SF, a huge project that 20 years hence people will be clamoring to tear down, wondering "what were we thinking when we allowed this?".

What kind of progressive is Margaret Abe anyway? Has she ever stood up against anything? Does she think this kind of bend-with-the-wind strategy is going to get her to higher office someday? I'd say she better establish some liberal credentials first.
When she first ran for office the Palo Alto Daily News said she was "too nice for politics". I never understood that, but now I do.
