Attempted homicide thwarted by malfunctioning gun

Mountain View police are asking for the public's help in an attempted homicide Sunday that left a man injured.

Seems like it would be pretty easy to connect the dots. Not sure why they need the public's help to solve this crime.

Yah, I agree with the above comment.
How's about one "what if", just to play the game though.
What if they really didn't want to kill the guy, but wanted to make sure he didn't come after them out of fear. They could have used an empty gun to scare him and make him feel like he lucked out, not wanting nothing to do with her after that. Long shot, but interesting thought.

I think if you pull the trigger twice to scare somebody, it's not gonna work because you're just gonna get an angry ball of adrenaline coming at you.

Imagine that police catches the guy who supposedly pulled the trigger. Imagine that this guy tells the police that he never had a gun and victim is lying. That is probably why police is trying to get more information.

The police are asking for the public's help but they aren't releasing a description of any of the parties involved? It sounds to me like the target knows damn well who the attacker was but he isn't talking.
