Oc 12th - March Against Monsanto Across the Goldern Gate Bridge

Original post made by Kathleen, Old Mountain View, on Oct 11, 2013

Join fellow Bay Area residents in a worldwide March Against Monsanto on Saturday, October 12, 2013.

The protest march calls for the permanent boycott of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and other harmful agro-chemicals.

Renowned food movement author and Bay Area resident Michael Pollan writes: Monsanto has become the symbol of everything people dislike about industrial agriculture: corporate control of the regulatory process; lack of transparency (for consumers) and lack of choice (for farmers); an intensifying rain of pesticides on ever-expanding monocultures; and the monopolization of seeds; which is to say, of the genetic resources on which all of humanity depends.

Bay area residents will rally to march at 11 am on across the Golden Gate Bridge (south to north) and back honoring World Food Day.

Participants in the March Against Monsanto SF are invited to make signs and dress as a bee (or other costumes) as part of a “bee swarm” in recognition of the plight of the many pollinators who are suffering from Colony Collapse Disorder due to the adverse affects of agrochemicals.

The peaceful march is family friendly and open to all and is scheduled to end at approximately 2 pm.
