This story is so sad. Pumar was driving 60mph on the sidewalk. Poor Mr. Ware had no chance to get out of the way of that monster. I hope he did not suffer before he passed away. Why didn't Pumar plead guilty and ask the judge for leniency? Now he is going to get the book thrown at him and he deserves it.

He didn't plea it out because he's been told his whole life that the law and rules are for other people, not him. He's "special" and above others.
Who else drives a high performance car on the street like it's his private closed-circuit course? Pompus jerk. Killed a man through his own arrogance and expects to get away with it.

If I understand correctly, he was on Escuela, not California Ave. I drive it every day. You have a three-block unobstructed view of the California Ave. intersection, and it is tempting to gun it when you see a green light, even from two blocks away. You go right past the senior center too. A stop sign, like at the senior center, would slow that traffic down.

The City of Mountain View was also negligent by not putting left arrow lights for such a busy intersection. Since this was corrected following the death of Ware, it is only now that I don't hear cars screeching their tires...
