Diving into science

This week, high-schoolers dove into a subject that at first glance might seem rather mundane. But according to Los Altos High School chemistry teacher Danielle Paige, there is nothing tepid about her two-week course on the chemistry of water at the STEM Summer Camp at Foothill College.

Sounds like this class is going swimmingly. Science is awesome!

One quibble: Regarding "a cost analysis of how much money you're spending on bottled water", why not expand that cost analysis to environmental cost. To bring the environmental cost back to water in particular, you could calculate the degradation of a unit of natural water that would be expected per unit bottled water purified and transported, in terms of CO2 acidification of water and groundwater degradation due to nearby fossil fuel extraction, for example.
