Sorry to hear about this accident. I wonder what went wrong.
It sounds like the pilot had been flying this same plane for 40 years? Impressive.

I have flown out of the Tahoe airport many times. It would appear,sans prop damage, the engine failed.One does not have many options in this terrain when that happens.

Sounds like a lovely family... functional even. Sorry they have to go through this tragedy.
