How did the witness know the bike was stolen? Did they see the thief stealing it? Was it stolen from a home or from a bike rack? Very curious that part of the story is missing.

What does it matter to this story?
The apprehended suspect admitted to the theft to the police.

This racism disgusts me. I have known and worked with undocumented workers for years as a construction worker. The overwhelming majority of these people are of such high moral character that they put us to shame.

@Jay Confession is not proving of guilt. In our system of justice we have a presumption of innocence. The onus is on the state to prove someone guilty. Did you know that people will confess to crimes that they never did when they're nervous? The police don't even have to hit them or threaten a suspect to make this happen. They don't even have to try! People get nervous and blurt out stupid things. "False confession" is a real phenomena.
