Notice: Only people with politically correct opinions and viewspoints need apply. Each applicant will be interrogated for a single seventeen hour session in order to ensure that the person has been effectively lobotomized and/or would never dare to say anything truly interesting.

The above comment has no basis in fact or reality. The application IS long, but there is no interview or interrogation. I have served on this Citizens Working Group since it was formed last October 2012. The reason for expanding the group is to gather a wider range of viewpoints. It is a great opportunity for pedestrian and bicycling advocates to make a difference and help to extend the Stevens Creek Trail south out of Mountain View.

Extending the trail won't be easy, so it needs supporters. Don't assume it will just happen because the trail is so wonderful. Many haven't experienced the trail and fear it coming near their home, even if it is on a public street. Share a different view. Get involved.

My post is intended as a reminder of the recent treatment of the Art Committee Chair, who was ousted from his role because he holds views and opinions that are not "politically correct".

It is unlawful to operate local government in a manner that is not "viewpoint neutral". Everyone has the same right to participate in our system of self government. Discrimination based upon viewpoint is arguably a violation of the First Amendment as well as of the free speech provision of the Constitution of the State of California.

I hope the Mountain View committee members are strong willed because it sounds like Los Altos is trying to kill the Stevens Creek Trail at the Los Altos border. They don't want "packs of bicyclists" swarming through their city. News report: Web Link
