We were having dinner at Pasta outside on Castro St. at this time. Several police cars were racing at high speed heading north on Castro apparently on their way to the scene of this chase. Unbelievable that police would drive at such high speed, sirens blaring with so many diners and pedestrians in the area. I'm a big supporter of MVPD and thank them for keeping our city safe but I would hope that police exercise better judgement before putting so many people at risk.

Rick the best bet when the police are after someone is the get out of the way, as far away as possible.

I missed the part where they said Perez was an illegal. Also, Vance Howeth doesn't sound like a "Mexican" name to me. Way to be racist though! You should say the same things out loud in public so people will know you're not worthy of an adult conversation.

@Rick -
If the police wouldn't have caught the suspects, you would have complained that the police didn't move fast enough.

Thanks to MVPD for acting so quickly and arresting the suspects.Driving in castro at such high speed is a dangerous move as I have seen kids and adults walking carelessly at many places where they are not supposed to be crossing.

If something is happening you need to act fast. It may also mean to drive fast. They did use the sirens to warn people to get out of their way. The pursuing officer had no idea who is he dealing with and needed help. Completely understandable. Great job!!!

We don't know what the crooks were up to. Keep that in mind. They might have been on their way to rob a store. People could get hurt that way too. I have to wonder what they were doing in Mountain View.

Keep this in mind: We know it's unsafe for police cars to roll through downtown at high rates of speed.
We can't guess what these guys are up to. You are correct.. nor should we guess. We know they are in a stolen car. Let's go with that.
Why put additional people in harm's way? That includes the police officers chasing the bad guys. Unless they took the car by an act of violence it's just a property crime.
Give chase where prudent but keep it reasonable.
