Don't steal bikes, punk. More and more bicyclists are packing heat to protect themselves from reckless drivers. A bike thief caught in the act is lucky to just get arrested.

No significant amount of riders is "packing heat" that's just a fake threat to try and scare drivers into behaving better(which I agree is more than needed. These angry little drivers are easily ignored for the most part.

Heh. I was walking by when this guy got arrested on the bridge over i85. They put his helmet on his head as they put him into the squad car. Safety first.

As a cyclist and ardent pro-gun advocate, if you really want to get back at bad drivers, get GoPro cameras on your bicycle, pointing front and back (down low to get license plate #'s). You couldn't aim a gun on a moving bicycle anyways, but even if you die from a hit and run, the camera will record relevant details.

Cameras on bikes have really come into play wrt catching drivers at fault. There are lots and lots of stories about drivers getting caught all over the nation.
My GoPro is rolling whenever my bike is rolling. Statements like "I was just driving along and he darted out in front of me" will be proven right or wrong, but it will not be in question. Get ready for consequences aggressive drivers. Modern technology is working hard against you, and getting caught on camera is just a matter of time.

I hope the bicyclist that was riding north on Shoreline Blvd yesterday had a camera on his bike and will turn himself in for bullying and almost hitting a pedestrian in the crosswalk crossing Shoreline by Eagle park. Happened right in front of me.

I am often a driver, biker and pedestrian in Mountain View and I can say most (but not all) drivers are very careful with bikers and pedestrians. However, I'm afraid I cannot say most bikers are very careful with pedestrians. I've see too many near collisions (way more than I've seen with cars). Maybe the bikers should turn the cameras on themselves and realize they too have power to do a lot of damage if not careful.

you are correct. bicyclists are people and can be wrong. However, you are free to use cameras, too, such as the gopro or the upcoming google glass. You needn't make blanket statements about all bicyclists, however.

@Cameras, people can't "almost" commit some crime by "almost" hitting someone. Not sure what he would be turning himself in for other than being a rude jerk.
Regardless though, yes, the cameras do not lie, so if an accident happens, and the driver's lawyer knows there's a camera, he'll definitely want to see the footage, so infractions by the cyclist could work in the driver's favor. Of course most stories of convictions I've been able to find online have been the drivers in the cases getting nailed, but ya never know.
