Another installment of The Dumbing Of America...

Who says that childhood bullying is a bad thing? Who says that schools should be "conflict free zones" where children never have to learn how to deal with conflict, including standing their ground and throwing a punch when appropriate?

How are these children going to respond to corrupt government officials like Police Chief SCOTT VERMEER and District Attorney JEFF ROSEN when they grow up? Are they going to take care of business by playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors"?

DUMB DUMBER DUMBEST. The job of the adult community, and especially the administrators and teachers of our schools, is to raise up these children into good, strong adult men and women.

The most valuable lesson that I ever learned, I learned when I was 7 years old. A bully had discovered that it was great fun to punch me in the stomach and watch me hit the deck, squirming and gasping for air. (I had asthma.) One day, he did this one time too many. I still remember the grass in my mouth as I willed my lungs to start working again. Then I got up. Then I looked him in the eye. Then I punched him back.

He never bothered me after that.

Today, I am dealing with another bully. For almost three years, I have been harassed, silenced, and effectively imprisoned by the Mountain View Municipal Corporation and by D.A. Jeff Rosen. All of my speech equipment has been seized and effectively confiscated. It has taken me more than two years to "will my lungs to start working again". I am now spitting the grass out of my mouth and getting back up onto my feet.

Can you guess what is going to happen next?

A perfect description of your posts. Well done professor. I don't know what it is about you that is so irritating. Maybe it's your constant repetition ("good, strong, blah, blah, blah; "MV Municipal Corporation", "dumbing down"). Maybe it's your arrogance ("I am a teacher"). Maybe it's your faux machismo. Or maybe it's because you seem to have an anecdote for every situation.

You've made accusations that you haven't proved: calling Vermeer corrupt, claiming MV is the most corrupt city in the state (good luck proving that). Prove it. Don't give us the same old BS that you intend to prove it. Spell it out. Right here. You don't need donations to get your website up to prove it.

As it stands, you are a monumental mouth and that's about it. You have no idea what real corruption is. You simply want attention. Grow up, for your own sake, grow up.

Huh, I guess that's what it is.

Intelligent, compassionate people. People who know a thing or two about child development. Have you considered that not every child, or adult for that matter, is equipped (either mentally and/or physically) to deal with bullying? Or are they the ones that natural selection will weed out?

You want these kids to stand up for themsleves and at the same time ask the people of Mountain View to help YOU make your stand!? Against some dreamt up conspiracy against you? Practice what you preach. Go it alone, don't ask for help. In the end it might make you a good, strong man.

I don't remember reading in the Voice that the El Camino Hospital District changed its name to the El Camino Healthcare District.

Look, BvP, I'm doing the best that I can. I have many flaws as a person. I've chosen to participate in community here by being a civic speaker. In particular, I am trying to be a "big heckler" to eliminate the monopoly over your thoughts that is enjoyed by "big media", including this FEEL GOOD KEEP THEM STUPID AND HAPPY SO THEY WILL KEEP SPENDING newspaper, the Mountain View Voice. (Thank you, censor, for not touching this paragraph.)

To be effective, I employ an "in your face" Jerry Springer approach. If you find this tiresome, try focusing on the message rather than on the intentionally provocative packaging.

The essence of my post here is to raise the issue of whether it is really a good thing to eliminate bullying for the children and teenagers of Mountain View. My position is that it is not good, and that school administrators are harming the children by creating a world without bullies for the children. The adult world is quite predatory and is filled with bullies and with all sorts of other evils. How are the children going to form as good, strong adult men and women if they are robbed of the opportunities to learn lessons such as the one that I learned when I was seven years old?

The Playworks program was a great addition to our school this year. Our coach was professional and respectful with the staff and children, and certainly a very positive role model on our campus! The children learned how to play new games, and resolved their disagreements in fun, easy, and creative ways. It was amazing to see children actually engaging in play with one another for the entire time while out on the playground. Our coach taught them how to be inclusive of each other, and gave them practical skills on how to come into established games without conflict. Thank you El Camino Healthcare, my school would not have had this great program on our campus if it weren’t for your support!
