Unlikely barbecue joint

Original post made on May 23, 2013

If Mountain View had a resident ribs master, it would be Harold Willis. And you won't find him -- or his ribs -- in a local restaurant, but in the parking lot of Lozano's Car Wash on El Camino Real

What happened to Uncle Frank's? I used to go to it in EPA 10 years ago and then it moved to Francesca's but I guess it's gone now.

I doubt Mr. Willis served two tours in North Korea with the Korean People's Army; more likely the US Military in South Korea on the DMZ.

Goodbye Willis
I'm glad you have had a good business there on the corner. Now that it is "public", you can rest assured that either Palo Alto (Shallow Alto ?) or MtnView will send their health folks or cops to demand all kinds of health clearances, business permit folks around to close you down.
Sad bureaucratic world we live in. Kid and Lemonade stands are gone, and soon, Willis will be out too.

Happy Memory Day Weekend. Life used to be easy

George, this story about the car wash BBQ man comes out about once a year. I remember reading about it in the Voice well over a decade ago and seemingly every year since, and guess what...everything is still OK. Oh, and life is still pretty easy if you don't go around looking to butt heads all the time.
