What was his job at Google?

It seems that the first burglary could've been prevented if Google had required the employee to surrender his badge at the time of termination. If he needed to come back to his work site for anything, it could be done with an escort from security or HR.
Most Silicon Valley companies I'm familiar with do it this way. A lot of resources were spent on a crime that could've been prevented by different personnel practices.

This is slightly off-topic, but it pertains to Google.
I'm a little surprised that Google bikes are not stolen more often (maybe they are, they seem to be everywhere). Do you think they have GPS trackers on them? I realize they aren't exactly the best bikes around (and it's akin to a homeless person taking off with a shopping cart), but they are just kinda sitting on campus all night. I've seen a handful of people riding them over 101, but presumably they're just going to Safeway or something.
