I noticed MV and LA HS were ranked higher than both Gunn and Paly, which was a nice surprise.

Who cares about whether students are learning at MVHS, what really matters is the dress code!

Higher scores and ranking can mean better odds at getting grants and funding. It helps in any way it can.
However, Monte Vista ranked higher.

"I noticed MV and LA HS were ranked higher than both Gunn and Paly, which was a nice surprise." Gunn wasn't ranked for some reason. But it has better API and college readiness, so it would be ranked higher.
