I worked at Western Appliance, the location has been there almost 20 years. The building was not owned but leased, Tropicana has been there since the 70's I believe, the owners were nice people and did not "sell out" as much of Mountain thinks. We are a tech community and leading the nation in diversity - trends - culture - and tech. The liquor store on the corner which recently closed was 750 sq ft, guess how much they paid? My apartment near Caltrain, rent was raised from 1960 to 2450 (2 bedroom 1 bath), ..............................I COULD HEAR MY NEIGHBORS CELL PHONE RING NEXT DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!

all that being said i love Mountain View!

Ugh. So that mega-behemoth Prometheus Group is at it again, looking to buy up every square inch of remaining Bay Area land, to put up yet more apartment complexes.

Do we really need *that* many more apartments? Amazing how schools, shopping, police/fire, and roads never seem to be updated for these new mega-housing complexes.

I am absolutely convinced the City Councils of many cities are in cahoots with the developers...

The developer in question builds mostly apartment buildings. When the new tenants move in you might see retail up grades, but San Antonio project is in the pipeline.

More retail...less apts to crowd us out?

They obviously are having issues filling San Antonio center in a timely manner.
