Bay Area drove state population growth in 2012

Original post made on May 2, 2013

The Bay Area led the charge in California's massive population increase last year, particularly Santa Clara County, which ended up being state's fastest growing county, according to a report by the Department of Finance.

It would be nice to know from where these people are moving here from.
East coast, illegal immigration or H1-B visas?

Santa Clara county has more population than some of the other states do.

This is a mixed blessing, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure part of the increase is people moving here because they were hired here. But, to the extent that's true, it means people already living here, and out of work, were not hired.

In other words, the growth in population is not helping our jobs situation as much as I wish it was.

This is your Zoe Lofgren eastern communist, Ronit Bryant zion communist, Nancy Pelosi, Sicilian linked communist, Diane Feinstein, way to old for the job and going communist senile.

You all did this voting for the wrong people and have only yourselves to blame. It is time for the Republican Party to gain its footing again and rid ourselves of these communists who want colonization of non citizens to take place.

11 million people, we should take up arms, the 2nd amendment is being called upon to defend our country from an invasion form India, China, Latin America, Europe, Israel, the middle East Russia, Africa. I am all for immigration not for here is your green card and don't worry stay forever we don't care. That is what every administration since Eisenhower has done.

President Johnson waged a war against poverty. He went about it all wrong, he should have shored up illegal immigration by deportations, like gypsy maids form Ireland going to corrupt Boston. Instead they did nothing and we got Whitey Bolger. Since that time the 11 million have criminally been here not caring, and yes they work hard, from employers who take advantage of them and fail to hire citizens because their wealth is taxed. That could be what these communist politicians are really about. more illegal people here the better I have more cheap maids I don' have to pay taxes on. Crooks in our midst all thanks to the Republican party failing.

How many more times are we going to put up with people who are not born here and take up arms against American in terrorist dealings? You get it yet, the Bay Ares is full of communists, not Democrats and certainly not Republicans. We are toast. If we deported the 11 million criminals, employers would be begging for workers. Our freeways would be a breeze (they take up freeways space going to our community colleges) Our university would become cheaper and more citizens would be going to higher education. Instead we are too fuc*ing stupid and let the communist politicians run rough shod over is with stupid bag banning crap, and not enforcing our laws. These communist politicians are crooks.

You assume the Republican Party can regain it's footing to become a conservative power again.

If you look at how Republicans have voted in the last decade or so, it seems that the Republicans have gone Liberal. Even if they do become a majority in government, they would need to hold conservative values again. I tend to vote Republican, but there are very few conservative politicians left.

What an absolutely bizarre rant by Citizen Proud above. Puzzling response from local guy, too. I'd love to hear some stats from local guy demonstrating how the Republicans (at least the ones in Congress) have voted in a more liberal direction over the past 10 years.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the fact that our county is growing and attracting new residents a positive sign - a confirmation that our economy is expanding and that our quality of life is generally very good. I'd certainly prefer to be in this situation than to be in one of those places that is losing population and can't attract jobs (think Detroit or Cleveland).
