I wouldn't expect that I agree with all the positions of all commissioners but I would expect that bias or prejudice would be vetted in the process.
I fully support everyone' s right to free speech but being a commissioner appointed to represent our city (my city) is not the forum for this right. This is not an elected office where if elected, the right to speak freely can be regulated by the voters. The commission appointment however is not so regulated and should be appointed to represent the entire city.
I don't believe I have seen any reporting or remarks on the appointment process regarding this issue. Who is the appointment committee and what is the process to recommend appointments to the council and what went wrong with this appointment.
