William Ware remembered

Original post made on Mar 21, 2013

At the suggestion of a Valley Transit Authority bus driver, a bench dedicated to the memory of William Ware has been installed at a bus stop near the intersection of California Street and Escuela Avenue -- at the site of the accident that took the Mountain View man's life last summer.

Just drove by today. Some "bozo" has already tagged the bench just below the plaque.

Rest in peace. I hope the perp who killed William gets life in prison.

A shelter over the bench would be nice, also.

A second the over-head shelter with the side walls made of reinforced concrete strong enough to provide protection from a car driven by a nut going 80+mph. Otherwise, any one sitting on the bench doesn't stand a chance while the laws of physics prevail.

For about $300 material and labor, an 8" diameter concrete filled steel bollard could be installed a few feet ahead of the bench. Even one of VTA's concrete garbage cans would give someone a fighting chance. Without something like this or a mature tree there instead, anyone on that bench or any other exposed VTA bench is a sitting duck.

RIP William
