As Goines stated, there was a tentative framework which was agreed upon by a subset of the respective boards. Both sides knew that nothing would be finalized until a public review and a final board vote (from both sides), so for Moore to state that LASD "walked away from the agreement" is both deceitful and inflammatory.
In fact, my understanding is that LASD presented a modified structure which BCS then "walked away from".
True?

When Mr. Moore says "BCS paused litigation last year at this same time and spent months in mediation talks only to have LASD walk from the agreement within two weeks of jointly announcing the deal," does he mean that BCS formally put existing cases on hold? Or does he mean that BCS simply delayed filing new actions? I think most people would not interpret delaying the filing of new actions as "pausing litigation," and this is the first I've heard that they put cases on hold last year.

Hmm. Really? Well, I'd like to thank all the folks who have spent considerable effort understanding public school policy and thinking about how it should be applied in LASD. The issues are contentious, and local politics is really difficult; but this topic and the principles behind it are very important, as evidenced by the high emotion involved.
I guess some folks may consider this "BORING". Or perhaps they are using this mocking tone to intimidate people to stop working on these issues. It's not going to work, you know. Grownups as not as subject to bullying.
My hat is off to the hard-working and persistent people who have shown thought leadership and made an effort to educate others on these tough issues. Sometimes the tone is too strident for my taste. But I have hugely appreciated the discussion, and feel it will greatly benefit our kids, and generations to come.

Sorry parent - that was kind of mean. I don't mean to be a bully, but really it is time to stop all of this stuff. It really is boring and exhausting. Let's try and bring peace and harmony back. Let's focus on our schools, not BCS.

If you are tired of all this talk, the solution is for BCS to stop suing to take over one of the existing schools. Look at charters in other parts of the bay area - most find their own location. Most try to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged kids. BCS is the exact opposite of those charters. BCS started out of anger and unfortunately most of the board members are still angry - just go to one of their board meetings and listen to the snark.
