Even with lights off and no siren police drive fast, sometimes (bear with me for a minute) they need to be **sneaky**. Criminals are good at what they do also, so police need to be one step ahead.

Also imagine a thief breaking into cars in an apartment complex, someone sees this and calls 911, do you think the police are gonna go full blaring sirens and lights to try and catch the thief? They would never catch anyone that way.

"Not on a code 3 call" means exactly that, NO excuse for 65 in a 35 zone. If this was an average citizen, criminal charges would certainly have been filed.

Did you read the other comments? They explain many very sensible reason why a police man would be driving very fast without lights & sirens.
If this was an average citizen, you are correct, there would be NO excuse. But, since it was a police man, you are not correct.

Sounds like the truck driver turned left in front of the police car that was responding to an alarm at a business.

How does having an accident put the police "one step ahead"?

Sorry people, the police do not need to be "sneaky" at the sake of OUR safety.

They are no more (or less) important that any of the rest of us.

Accidents happen. And police have to be stealth, sneaky, sly, candid, surrepitious, and even deceitful to catch criminals. [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language]

Stuff happens, Thank goodness no one was killed. Said this was oncoming traffic, if so this must have been horrific. Lets hope and pray for the victim here and lesson learned that you flash your lights in areas that are needed, as in an area where limited vision is at stake. Good job with the settlement, long drawn out cases take their toll on everyone where everyone eventually loses and there are no winners. Notice to everyone, drive defensive, you never know what might come out of the shadows. Note to Police, do your job, we need you, but do not place he public in hazards way when accomplishing your tasks. Wouldn't it be neat we live in a society where no police are ever needed. Where is it posted he got promoted? Don't see it. I do see he saved someone's life and got a award. And a crime stopping award too and is a police league volunteer.
