Judge: Bullis must reveal info on donors, enrollment

Original post made on Jan 17, 2013

A judge has ruled that Bullis Charter School must provide records on its enrollment and fundraising practices, despite arguments from the charter school's legal team that there is no legitimate reason for revealing the information.

What a ridiculous situation. Talk about the 1%! This is further proof that Los Altos is full of privileged, entitled rich snobs. Even though they already have the state's top schools, they have created a private school with taxpayer money. Not to mention the money being spent on litigation ...

C'mon we have bigger problems to solve!

IMHO Arturo Gonzalez is becoming a bit of a laughingstock. He's lost so much in court lately. And now he's just lying. In this article Gonzalez said that LASD is arguing "you can't have a charter school in an areas that aren't poor." That's just not true. No one is questioning BCS's right to exist. LASD just asking for clarification about what facilities LASD is required to provide BCS.

Gonzalez comes across very poorly in this article. If he's really as bad as he sounds, then it's a shame BCS isn't getting more out of all the money they're spending on attorney's fees.

gonzalez should move into an apartment on del medio to see that his assertion "the whole district is well-educated and well-to-do" is incorrect.

Transparency has been seriously lacking at BCS. This is a statement and step in the right direction, but still quite a way to go for a public school.

Gonzalez is distorting the facts around the lawsuits to the point of outright lying. When is he going to learn that statements he makes to the press will end up as evidence in court against him and BCS!

You all are funny calling a lawyer a liar. It's almost the same word.

Gonzalez, overall, has done a great job for Bullis Charter School. BCS ultimately gets what is wants. These rulings now are just working towards the end game.

And to all you people who are just now realizing rich people get better thing that non-rich people.. really? This is just one of the basic rules of the world.

Want the same things as a rich person? Go make some money and buy them.

We don't all get to go to Harvard. Some of us have to go to San Jose State. Just that way it is.

How special Harold Barton is back. Was Joan J Strong kicked off or something? Why not just post under you real name? Oh wait I know, you ran for County Board and lost and now you might try again.

Joan J. Strong is a registered user.

I have only posted under this name for at least a year. I am just me.

That will be enough conspiracy theories for today, thank you.

Yes, I always love the claims of those poor down trodden LASDers. Try coming across the tracks and learning how the other 99 percent live. A few apartment blocks along Del Medio does not make you a low income district. Almost all of you live in houses worth at least twice what mine would sell for. Most schools over here ( except for Huff) have street after street filled with apartment buildings attending them. Give it up, you are not the poor cousins to the charter school, you are all very rich.

As I remember it, back in the fall of 11' Harold Barton was posting crazy statements all over the place, in fact you wondered how Harold ever got any work done, in fact just like are own special joanie, he started posting all over the USA. In fact anywhere there was a charter school controversy Harry was there to put in his two cents, really a busy boy. Then one day the Mountain View a new person popped up - Joan J Strong. Joan's first few posts seemed reasonable, in fact Joanie logged on as MV Voice Registered User. That seemed cool, no one knew what a Registered User was, but it sounded important. Soon after that Joan started HER RANTS with the capitals and what not. In fact she started sounding exactly like Harold. We never heard for Harry again. It was like he evaporated in the ether, but here he is back again after more than a year, Interesting!

Conspiracy Theories Joan? You mean like when you start getting all upset and insist that the Voice shut down the board because you dish it out but can't take it? Most of the time it's because someone is way to close to the truth.

I always think it's funny when everyone talks about my neighborhood as the poor area. Last time I checked my house was worth about 1.3 million - anyone ever taken a drive down around here - there are a bunch of nice houses - it's not the slums!

LASD is operating with an excess capacity of 50-100 slots in the jr highs. They have been irresponsible to not move elementary schools into the jr highs to fill the seats and create room for the charter. Each year they should have been balancing facility use by moving kids around as needed. They have intentionally discriminated against the charter by not making a classroom available in each LASD school for them to use. First and foremost LASD has to operate with financial efficiency, second by equality for the charter, lastly the district kids!

Nice to see paid employees of BCS posting here crying about the space offered at Blach.

The person posting as lynn reed is not me. LASD provided a site to BCS that couldn't be used as a school site. BCS teachers were required to escort students to the restrooms in the older gym - the only ones that BCS was allowed to use. As you can imagine, teachers can't leave there class to walk students to the bathroom. It is only one of the many reasons that the site provided was not useable, but an important one. The fact that someone wants to make fun of my comments on Facebook is very sad. You are really saying it's okay to discriminate against BCS students. Their parents choose an alternative to the LASD run schools, so it's okay for them to operate under conditions that don't exist on other campuses. School reform is hard, but it doesn't need to be exasperated by adults acting like spoiled bullies.

In answer to Bob - paid employees of BCS are also residents of the community. I guess you can have a pass since the person posting as lynn reed wasn't me. Indeed, perhaps you constructed that post and then answered it - if that's the case well...... I do, however, have every right to comment here. I am long term member of the community and grew up in Mountain View and Los Altos. I graduated from Chester F Awalt HIgh School. (Go Spartans! )I am also a tax payer, and a BCS parent. I am not paid by BCS to make comments on this forum. Please find something of substance to comment on, Bob, or don't comment at all. In addition, please do not post as me and then right a silly answer to it.

Sorry about the spelling errors in my first message. I was upset when I found out that someone had registered as me on this forum and didn't take the time to edit my message.
