Food truck offers its version of the Parisian burger from Linda's Drive-In

Original post made on Jan 14, 2013

Like many local residents, the Zankich family never forgot the Parisian burger served at Mountain View's Linda's Drive-In decades ago, with its special sauce and sourdough bun. When it came time to open their own eatery, what to serve was a no-brainer.

Pretty sure Linda's was not torn down. Rather, they gutted it, enclosed more of it and it became a Photo Drive Up store, later Ritz Camera. The building, located near Cost Plus on El Camino is currently empty and seeking a new use.

"two beef patties, American cheese, a French roll bun (from the Parisian bakery) and "special sauce" made from ketchup, mustard, dried onions, celery seed and pepper. Tater Tots were served on the side"

Translation = Heart disease and an early death but not after being pills to stop heart disease and diabetes for the last miserable 20 years of your life.

Everyone is NOT on facebook or Twitter. I would visit this truck but not at the expense of signing up for FB or Twitter.

Back when I was working the Juvenile Division at MVPD, when we got reports of kids skipping school, we could usually find 'em at Linda's! What a great burger that was!

Solution: cops started eating there. Truancy problem went way down!

MD, I've been eating these tasteful wonders since I was a teen. First from Linda's in the 70's, then at a now-defunct place once located at Evelyn and Bernardo in Sunnyvale (business name I cannot recall), and as of the last few years, Pezzella's, who do a wonderful job I might add. I'm in my mid 50s now, and my doc says my heart is just fine and dandy, thank you.

It's not the food that will kill you. It's eating rich and delicious foods like this and then sitting around on your butt in front of the PC or TV for hours that will do the damage. Just get some real exercise to burn the fat and calories (I ride a bike), don't skip your veggies and take daily vitamins and minerals, etc., and you will be able to ENJOY a meal like these from time to time without fearing it.

Now, pass those tater-tots!

Actually, Steve, it's the high intake of animal fat that will shorten your life. And there is plenty of it in a cheeseburgers and other processed foods such as tater-tots. Fruit and vegetables should comprise half your diet or more. Exercise is a must, but not in the routines of most. Substitute animal fats with nuts, seeds, etc. Vitamins and supplements are not necessary and are a waste of money with the exception of Omega3 perhaps. Maybe you could come by my practice and talk to my patients some time.

Yummy! That story made me drool indeed.

Now, let's get those food trucks approved for MV. I suggest the corner of the Target parking lot near the old DMV. Heck, there's a taco truck that parks there daily as it is. Why not make it official and invite a few other food trucks. There are very few dining options nearby -- unless you count the deli inside Whole Foods or MCD's inside Walmart.

How about tater tots for 25 cents?

Linda's Parisian burgers are now sold at Armadillo Willy's...with tater tots, too, and they taste fantastic.
