Sorry to see Tom go, as he usually looked at the facts and and then made decisions, rather than imposing his personal beliefs.
Plastic bag ban is a perfect example - as he notes, unlike SF and some other cities, Mountain View does NOT have a significant problem with plastic bags getting into the bay. And the costs and risks of a ban in MV far outweigh the potential benefit.

Tom has been a great friend of Mountain View and a great City Councilman. I hope we elect many more like him. Thanks Tom for your service to us all.

Sorry Supporting Citizen, As I posted before, as Stevens Creek Adopters, our family and friends have pulled way too many plastic bags out of Stevens Creek, snagged on their way to the Bay. YES MV bags carelessly (or accidentally) tossed DO end up in the Bay...

All I can say is....whatever will we do now that the frequently self-proclaimed "only economist in the room" is there no more?!

Sorry to see Tom leave the council as well. But I will see him in church on Sunday...

Tom is sensible, considered in his decisions and thoughful (not hasty). He has been a breath of fresh air amongst quite a few hot-air-blowers. So grateful to Tom for his service. My hope is that the council actually learned and will model some of his behaviors.

Sad to see Tom go, as an almost lone voice of reason (along with Inks) on the Council. We need more educated people on the Council rather than those who just push their own random opinions. Tom -- please run again in a couple years!
