Holiday Fund: A partnership sent from 'the heavens'

Original post made on Dec 20, 2012

Some might see it as simple supply-and-demand economics, but officials from a local chapter of the Kiwanis International and the Day Worker Center of Mountain View say it was something more akin to fate that brought their two organizations together in a partnership that appears likely to last for years to come.

"This year, for the first time, the Kiwanis Club of Los Altos will staff its Christmas tree lot almost entirely with laborers recruited through the Day Worker Center."
This is very misleading. If some one cares about being fair to everyone, I think the journalist should have been much more transparent here. Don't we have lot of unemployed legal residents in this county who could have been employed by this Kiwanis club. And what exactly is amount these day worker centers make per hour and how much the Kiwanis club would have to pay if they hired a legal resident of this country?

It seeems no one respects the laws of this county. These liberals are just as rotten as the extreme right wingers , but in different ways. What makes these liberals think that it is OK to let the legally unemployed languish with no decent living wages while they think it is ok to employ law violating illegal immigrants. I am just outraged way beyong I can describe. It seems liberals think to exploit someone to exploit someone else. Thats double exploitation.

It's disappointing that Holiday Fund donors have not been listed in the Mountain View Voice. The Palo Alto Weekly has been listing their donors for weeks. Listing donors entices others in the community to donate.

[The donors are listed this week and will be in coming weeks. ED.]

Dear Juniperk, Your response was hurtful to say the least. Think - before you send hate messages. These workers have as much right to live and work here as you do. Misleading? Your comments are extremely misleading. Transparency? What in the world do you know about transparency? Your toxic emotions are spilling over into your reasoning, man. Please get help for your mental health issues. Yes, you really can feel so much better once you get your toxic stuff managed. Live and let live!

A bunch of people thumbing their noses to the nation's laws.

Los Altos just loves illegals and the Day Worker Center. There just ain't nothing like cheap labor to clean your toilet and mow your lawn with no strings attach or legal obligations.[Portion removed. No need for a personal attack here.]
