City blames contractors for janitors' job losses

After janitors protested job losses and pay cuts last week, city officials shifted the blame for the cuts onto the city's janitorial service providers.

It's sad this happens - but lets remember that LOTS of people in the private sector have lost jobs or had paycuts.

The city needs to focus on keeping costs low - especially for basics like janitorial - so we can afford more police protection, better library support, etc.

If a private company can get willing employees to work for lower wages and benefits, and do a good job, then we should continue that so Mountain View can better support the police and library
