Did I miss the posting for the formation of this committee? I hope they plan to be transparent, although the addition of the leader of the Yes on Measure G initiative to the committee smacks of patronage.

@ Sunshine--Yes--you missed it! A resolution to set up the oversight committee was adopted at the Board's August 23 meeting, a press release went out on August 29, notices went out through backpack mail and the school elists, and the application form (which was due September 28) was readily available on the District's webpage if you press the prominent MEASURE G link in big purple letters on the right hand side of the home page. That said, it's not too late to participate in the process by attending the open meetings and contributing during the public comment periods. Please put your umbrella away and focus your efforts on collaborating and contributing. Working together, we can make our schools great!

@Sunshine, yes I received this in my school newsletter, since I have two children currently attending MVWSD schools. It would definitely have been a little harder to find out about if you don't receive backpack mail or e-newsletters.
I hope everyone who was interested in how the school district worked would come out to school district or oversight committee meetings more often. Members of the general public only very infrequently drop in to see the sausage getting made. Of course, people are busy doing their own things.
Is there a mailing list people can sign up for to get meeting agendas for all the various public district meetings? So they don't have to think to go look on the district website for new links that have popped up since they last checked?

Why is it Cupertino gets there notice printed in the Mercury News for all to see? I read the View every week, and didn't see it there, either. If you aren't a parent or try to find something on the district website - good luck there - you were out of luck.

@Sunshine Please! I think you mean the Voice, and it was printed in there.

The committee will be electing its officers. Not much conflict with Trustee Walter, she will not be a membe*r of the committee yet, she will not vote, and she will not? be an officer. * ex-officio do not vote in these type of Bond Oversight Committees.
GREEN building? This is not a priority FAQ " 5. Are green building and 21st Centuary Learning environments considered a priority? We are definately interested in evaluating these as part of our design but need to have a balanced presentation on cost value analysis." Who decides the Balance? The Board?

Yes--there is a mailing list. Look for the large button on the lower righthand corner of District's home page www.mvwsd.org that says SUBSCRIBE to our email list--when you press the button, it sets you up to send an email to Kathi Lilga at klilga@mvwsd.org--just ask her to subscribe you. You will get agendas announcing every Board and oversight committee meeting, press releases, superintendent's newsletters and the like.
