Original post made on Oct 2, 2012

A victim of a recent home-invasion robbery in Mountain View was arrested for allegedly possessing drugs with the intent to sell them, as well as for owning a weapon and body armor -- illegal in his case because he is a convicted felon, according to the police.

Geez and I thought we lived in the safest city in America. I am going to be packing my baseball bat when I walk my dog from now on

Sounds like this was a planned attack and they were after the cash. My gumshoe detective novel reading instincts say check out people who have been to that apartment lately - maintenance workers, repairmen, friends, coworkers, neighbors, guests of neighbors.

Drawing on my personal experiences from my "bad decisions" phase, the only people I knew of that had amounts of cash on-hand worth stealing, and a gun in a briefcase, were drug dealers. I wonder if anything else was stolen? This was very brazen and high risk with many perps. This sort of risk is usually not taken w/out a very large opportunity for a payout. I hope the police REALLY look into this one. There's more to this story than what we read.

This IS the safest city in America! At this very moment, MVPD is diligently protecting us from those evil California stops.

Running stop lights (the so-called "California stops") is one of the primary causes of pedestrian fatalities in this city. Stop light runners kill way more people that street criminals. I am glad that the cops are out enforcing stop lights. If you think the cops are spending too much time on traffic enforcement, then start obeying the law and give the cops more time to work on other things.

By all means, please, MVPD, enforce the law regarding running red lights. Prioritize your limited police resources toward protecting the rights and safety of Mountain View citizens, and away from merely generating revenue for the city machine. If they weren't so busy staking out low risk money stops, maybe they'd have time to make a real safety difference. Doubt there are many injuries from someone rolling a stop at a half-mile-per-hour.

This sounds like a drug deal gone bad. MVPD arrested the alleged victim on weapon and drug charges. News report: Web Link

Yep, I called it! Oct 3, 2012 at 9:15 am. 3rd post from the top. Really though, it seemed pretty dang obvious.

That guy should try another line of work. If you're in the informal pharmaceuticals trade, you don't call the cops when you get ripped off. That's Darwin Award territory, right there.

Good work, MVPD!

Gee 5 people at 6AM. That has to be a totally random. Then they want to go back into his home. Gee maybe left his new ipod 6 inside? I hope it was the neighbors who called the cops. A safe neighborhood is one where the whole community watches over the area because the police are not everywhere all the time.

Maybe they should take a look a Hackett Ave and Sierra Vista too! When I take a run I always see different characters, teens mainly, coming out of the 3/4 unit apartments on the corner. Others in my complex have said the same about large groups gathering of random people and people living in there cars on the property. Some in my complex have complained but the police department just say they'll make a round and nothing happen. Voice you should take a look at this! Save MV!

This was right next to Little Prodigy Preschool where my kids used to go.
