Is "Trex" spelled right? Is there a pattern of thefts from open garages in town or is this an isolated incident? Any speculation about whether this is a crime of opportunity or was the perp casing the neighborhood for some time before hitting this house?

Um, my son had two bikes stolen in one month but I guess since it was parked outside our front door at an apartment complex, we don't make the news. It happened in broad daylight too. By the way, our rent is probably more than their mortgage.

One the one hand, it's good that we live in a town where this is uncommon enough for the news. On the other, this story is a good warning for garage and bicycle owners.

Maybe the guy who took it thought it was part of the City's new bike share program.

Bikes taken from multiple units in our appt complex recently. People don't know until they check their storage area.

I'm sure they meant "gray Trek". Treks are quite popular.

I've read news in years past of people walking into back yards or breaking into CLOSED garages to steal valuable bikes. That's why the bikes in my garage are locked up.

FACT OF LIFE: Leave an expensive bike exposed and unsecured where someone can steal it, and sooner or later someone will. It doesn't matter WHERE you live.
