Sounds great for the ESL kids. How about the non-ESL kids who are the MAJORITY at Huff?

And what second or third language does this expert speak? Spanish? Chinese? Somewhere I missed that.
"It is not uncommon for many of the most talented and experienced individuals seeking a teaching or administrative positions to be hired by mid-April."
HOWEVER, MVWSD makes all their inside appointments well before that time frame!

Ditto...
What about support for the students excelling? I always felt there was too much of resources and support tied up in the English language learner program at MVWSD.
We are living in a nice Ohio Suburb for a while, and it is a breath of fresh air; all the support my kids are getting. The screening and support for advanced and gifted children is amazing here. There is a huge staff devoted to just that. There is also an equal amount of support for the other end of the spectrum. The overall test scores here are among the highest anywhere, proving that support in the middle and at each end of the spectrum is the right thing to do for the kids, and the test scores are a fringe benefit.
AND they have school buses here...

It's so disappointing to see the district virtually ignore the students at the other end of the spectrum who are excelling but also who are underserved by the district. Last time I checked ESL program received $200k per year for 10% of the school population compared to $1.5k for GATE students who make up over 50% of the school population. I'm all for educating "everyone" and not by lowering the bar vs raising it up. Let's stop playing with statistics, please. Would be nice the have someone care about "all" the students including those who happen to have already mastered the basics. Makes one wonder what the district did to lose a principal that was just coming into her own. And while Huff is providing 2nd language instruction to some kids why can't the rest also be learning a second language too?

What do expect when the city puts out a sign welcoming day workers?
And then the city does all it can to avoid letting the schools get any more tax revenue.
Your tax dollars at work.
Now everybody run out and Vote YES on Measure G so we can all keep paying more for this broken system.
Don't miss out
