All the thousands of new Facebook employees expected over the next few years are going to need housing. Lots of empty space at Moffett.
The thousands of unemployed HP people are not necessarily going to be leaving town immediately.

More housing? Seriously!?

Poor place for housing. Wind comes up in the afternoon. Look at East Palo Alto, east Menlo. Cheap housing because it's less desirable. Light industrial would be good. Even a FedEx/UPS airfield would be better than housing.

I'm sure if the MV city council had their way. They would build high density housing. FB must be a member.

I'd like a mixture of housing, park, education, and art & technology incubator space.
Both Austin and Irvine reveloped air fieds.

The former Mueller Muni Airport in Austin is pretty cool too. Robert Rodriguez has his film studio there.

My father was XO at Crows Landing NALF back in the early 70s and I ended up living in the final approach path for several years after it was closed. NASA had it for a while and flew some rather esoteric aircraft out of it. Or not, depending on who you asked.
What a total FUBAR the local government has made of that property management.
It's gone through at least a dozen "plans" and remains abandoned today. The greatest one was a "port" for the Bay Area. Seriously.
It was a big bomber training base in WWII, along with nearby Vernalis, and it's still a huge airfield, with no tower, or other buildings remaining.
Of course, if you ever need to make an emergency landing...

Allowing rich people to land their jets at Moffett in the middle of the night is a really bad idea.
Any use like housing which increases traffic is a horrible idea.
Why don't we just turn the whole thing into a park?

Traffic might not be a problem if people lived and worked there. Hangar One could be an awesome mixed use space with museum, arts, etc.. A large portion of the area would have to be a park that kept the theme of the history of the place, including a fruit orchard.
Mountain View / Sunnyvale should visit other cities that have done redevelopment like this to see what worked.
