Tired of Bigots -
I really don't think that they are being "bigots". I just think that they are so tired of all the rallies, marches, and news reports where illegal aliens are asking for amnesty, that their comments are coming out sideways. I totally understand where they are coming from. I am not a bigot, I just get tired of hearing about the crime, gangs, and our city being a sanctuary city where everyone turns their heads and looks the other way so as not to acknowledge crimes when they occur. A prime example is the Day Worker Center. Clearly not asking for documentation prior to sending them out to work and earn money for that work is a crime. However, they, and our MVPD and City Council, look the other way so as to not acknowledge that they are breaking the law. And we, as law abiding citizens, are breaking the law by hiring them, whether knowingly or unknowingly. So, go ahead and use your labels and call them a "dull bunch". But they are also a "law abiding bunch" who I believe are just tired of everyone just looking the other way.

Frustrated -

I'm not the biggest labeler. Why do we assume that just because the suspect in this article was described as Hispanic that he is an illegal immigrant? Isn't that a jump? I find that jump offensive.

There seems to be a constant campaign on this blog on the part of the anti-immigration or anti-hispanic group. There are so many articles where this Jesse guy asks about the DWC, and the articles don't even have to mention Hispanic this or that - just crime. There is a deliberate attempt to link crime to Hispanics, and I find that bigoted. Go to the search feature and look up Jesse or Day Workers Center and see how many times he has posted that same comment. I did some months ago and was shocked. It's not an honest question that is being asked. It's a way to plant a seed in unsuspecting people's minds about crime and Hispanics. That's actually beyond just bigoted, and is malicious. Don't you think so?

Also, I was reading another article about the march/rally and the word 'wetback' was used. I just can't understand the consistent lack of civility in the posts.

So, I can understand that you are frustrated, and I think you deserve to voice opinions, but there is a line people cross when they are using racial slurs and actually trying to implicate a whole slice of society in mostly boneheaded attempts at burglary.

@Not Fair,

You're right, you should have filmed it because I don't believe it for one second.

Racism is when the city and police department enforce laws consistently against one group of people but turn a blind eye and let a large segment of the population break laws by way of the venue of the Day Worker Center. The Voice only reports on one type of criminal activity (selective editing) and gives a pass on all the rest.
