21 households displaced by fire

The cause of a two-alarm fire that displaced 21 households from an apartment complex on El Camino Real on Tuesday is still under investigation.

Who are the Fire Associates?

The Fire Associates are volunteers who show up at major fire events and serve coffee, cookies, water etc. to the firefighters.

Good question -- the story has been edited and should be a little clearer now. The Fire Associates of Santa Clara Valley aren't directly affiliated with fire departments, but its volunteers provide support "canteen service" to firefighters. They don't do any firefighting themselves.
