This years SOTU address was only exceptional when viewed as a campaign tv commercial. If anything the president said surprised anyone, then they must have been living under a rock for 5 years.

Nothing will change until we get rid of the same faces that have led us all down this path before. Vote out all sitting Senators and Representative from both parties. They've all been bought.

Somehow the President forgot to mention how all public employees should enjoy the same social security benefits of all. Its long overdue to break the power players, agreed, vote them all out(obama incl.)!

I agree with the other two comments. However, Anna is correct in advocating for political contribution transparency but she needs to go further and stand behind making INSIDER TRADING FOR CONGRESS ILLEGAL! This is why Congress Woman become millionaires yet talk-the-talk when pandering for votes - sick!
Where's former Councilman Gregg Perry when you need him!

Hey Anna Babe.... Please take note of all the above comments.. You are dancing in the wrong room... It is obvious that Nobama is a Socialist, trying to bring our country into line with the failing countries of the world.
Pay attention.
Please fellow citizens... Vote NO on all of them.

If Eshoo is so concerned about money in politics, why doesn't she give back all the money she gets from her special buddies at Google? And when is she going to stop helping the Google founders keep their large fleet of airliners at Moffett? Talk about special services for the 1%.

Ibid to all of the above.
BTW I'd find her more credible if she would stop dyeing her hair to resemble the color of a 20-year-old's along with the decision making maturity of one. Her and Pelosi. They are both so out of touch with reality and responsibility to the public trust.

I agree that the main problem in politics today is money. But voting all incumbents out does not address the root cause. People have been advocating that for generations and we just keep getting new politicians that have been bought by big corporations.
We need to change the system instead. In my opinion, Rootstrikers is our best chance: Web Link

"requiring companies doing business with the federal government to disclose their political contributions" means that Corporation X will set up a separate subsidiary corporation to do the political stuff but X will never directly contribute.

An executive order, why doesn't congress pass a bill? It is up to congress to pass laws, not the executive branch. The president does not have the right under the constitution to pass laws. This process of executive orders was given to the president during war time and should not have been extended to include peace times. It should be challenged before the supreme court.

"tsunami of money that's washing through the (political) system"
Republican = "tsunami of money" from corporate PACs
Democrat = power of the people from union PACs

MV Voice Editor -- You probably bristle when you hear the term "Liberal media", but when you run these unsigned political puff pieces, you are only hurting yourself. If you are not going to challenger her about her statements, put this stuff on the Op-Ed page or better yet, make her pay for these ads.
