I'm glad to hear Eshoo is on the right side of this issue. If SOPA or PIPA passes, we can say goodbye to any site that displays user content. This includes Wikipedia, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Youtube, and all search engines. It may or may not help the music and movie industries, but I strongly believe it would make the rest of us poorer.

Two corrections:

1. SOPA and PIPA do NOT require judicial oversight, the way it is written, a host would have to take down an accused site without any judicial hearing, in violation of Due Process.

2."The bills are heavily supported by the music and movie industries, which are particularly prone to high-tech piracy." First part true, second part has been shown to be almost totally false. The movie industry is doing better than they ever have before, and piracy is a minor issue (except in the releases they put out). Their real interest is in stopping innovative new (legal) industries from encroaching in what they think is "their" turf.
