How about arresting the mom for allowing TWO kids be be along long enough to be bitten or pinched.

She's lucky they didn't end up in some van headed for who knows where.

Wow, it sure is easy to criticize the actions of others, Wally. All the mother had to do was turn her head for 10 seconds for it to be over. Don't know if you are a parent who ever took two young children out in public, but I bet you would have had at least one occasion of 10 seconds looking at something else.

Wow,I am a bit disturbed by the police spokeswoman. I had heard her on a few news outlets stating emphatically that the children had been bitten and also the bite had broken the skin! What is it? Pinching or biting? It would seem there is a difference between the two. Maybe a bit of good investigating might be warranted prior to reporting this incident.

How irresponsible of the Police for issuing the initial statement the the girls were bitten. This poor woman was probably only indicating how "cute" you are and had no harmful intent. Of course she ran. She was probably scared half to death with all the goofy ass adults screaming. And the way some of he articles were written have her portrayed as a vampire. Know of a good attorney. I would bury the Mountain View Police department for not doing an investigation into this before issuing a statement.

I agree with the irresponsibility of releasing that initial report about biting. It was on CNN this morning! Friends from far away (East Coast) were emailing me this story and telling me to beware of the biter. Not so nice national coverage for Mountain View.

Glad the kids weren't bitten. Hope they are recovering well.

Are you guys saying that pinching to draw blood is ok? The biting was bad but pinching a newborn to draw blood is no big deal?

You all need to get a job or find a hobby besides telling people what to do on blogs to keep you busy. You do provide entertaining points of view.

Richard - pot kettle black

J - No way is it ok to pinch or even touch other people's kids. Clearly the lady is deeply disturbed and committed a foul crime here. However the biting part just sounded deranged, like a rabid vampire. That aspect of the story attracted the attention of CNN and the other sensationalised news agencies.

It's all a cover-up! Call in Karl Kolchak, The Night Stalker, and have him put a stake through her. Or maybe see if Buffy the Vampire Slayer has a night free to come and investigate!

Hey Doctor Kiljoy,

This is Mountain View we're talking about, not Sunnydale!

What did the children's cheeks look like before they went to the bookstore?

I love the latest police report. They have gone from biting to pinch to now to pinch hard enough to draw blood. What the hell did the woman do pull the damn skin off the poor kid. How about a possible sharp thumbnail. Think people! Have you noticed how the police spokes person comments today reap of a personal note. Who the hell does she think she is Read her comments in the SJ Merc. As Joe Friday said on Dragnet. " just the facts mam, Just the facts" I suggest that maybe we wrap-up our kids in "protect o wrap. This whole story seems to be blown completely out of proportion. Can't blame the media. There plain stupid! I would be having my attorney looking at the police department for letting out her name, picture and city. Plus there irresponsible comments that were made without reviewing the evidence first. this woman is damaged and probably met nothing by it. Someone from the Mountain View Police department needs to fry for this. The only thing this woman appears guilty of is you cannot touch anyone without permission. know matter what your intention might be. Its our new softer pathetic society that we live in.

Maybe she is a vampire? Seems like there is a lot more of them living n Mountain View.

No doubt this was overblown by the kids mom but eventually it will get straightened out.

It sound like the kids mom is taking alot of heat for leaving the kids unattended. It appears shes trying to cover here ass at the expense of a well meaning jester that somehow went wrong. If she was as concern about the well fare of her children you would have though they would have been chained to her. Come on Justus system do everyone here a favor. Tell the woman (vampire) she needs to keep her hands in her pocket next time and for god's sake let her off and drop this farce. I would add just as the comment earlier. it appears some cleanup needs to be none at the mountain View police PR department. Something is not right.

I love the way the police retract there story. First bitten and than pinched. Sorry New York didn't mean to drop a nuke on you and kill 800,000 persons. It was really meant for Florida. Mountain View Police you really did a job on this poor woman. I like this name. The Beltramo Police Department. I've have that spokeswoman cleaning the cell floors.

"This is not a case where dear old Polly Beltramo pinched these kids' cheeks and thought it'd be OK and accidentally pinched too hard," Wylie said. "We don't know why Ms. Beltramo did what she did, but she caused injury by pinching their cheeks."Officers got a statement from Beltramo but cannot release it yet, Wylie said. "We don't understand ourselves what happened -- it's very bizarre." [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language] THESE ARE QUOTES COMING FROM YOUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT. KNOWING MRS BELTRAMO THE FIRST STATEMENT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. WHEN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FINALLY RELEASES BELTRAMO'S STATEMENT YOU [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language] WILL HEAR THE OTHER SIDE OF WHAT HAPPENED. NOT THE SIDE OF A MOTHER WHO I'M SURE IS GETTING PLENTY OF HEAT FOR LEAVING HERE CHILDREN UNATTENDED. THEY HAVE HIRED ONE OF THE BEST DEFENSE ATTORNEY AROUND AND WILL NOT ONLY HAVE BELTRAMO CLEARED OF THIS HARMLESS INTENDED TO SHOW OF AFFECTION THAT WENT WRONG ( A SHARP EDGED THUMBNAIL) WHICH CAUSED THE UNFORTUNATE LACERATION AND ADMITTED PROBABLY (SADLY) PRESSED TO HARD SHE IS SO SORRY FOR THAT. SHE MEANT NO HARM WHATS SO EVER. THEIR ATTORNEY IS REALLY UPSET WITH THE WAY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS DEPICTED BELTRAMO WITH THERE CARELESS NEWS RELEASES. AS A PROTECTION SERVICE YOU DO NOT RELEASE STATEMENTS WITH NO MERIT. [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language] IS THIS WHAT THIS COUNTRY HAS BECOME.
