Diet-supplement distributor pays $1.5M settlement

A Canadian corporation and its American affiliate agreed to pay $1.5 million in civil penalties and costs after being sued by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, Jeff Rosen, county district attorney announced Thursday.

My tax dollars are truly at work here. Finally the government, in a consumer-protection capacity, really is protecting us from dangerous drugs! One has to wonder whether this is an anomaly, or a salutary step in a positive direction: promoting the general welfare.
